Peace Sells… But Who’s Buying? Information

Peace Sells… But Who’s Buying? is widely regarded as an all-time classic thrash metal album and pivotal to the rise of extreme metal music. The album debuted at #76 on the Billboard 200 (US) and went on to achieve platinum status in 1992.

Artwork for the album was done by Illustrator, Ed Repka. His depiction of Vic Rattlehead posing as a real-estate agent in front of a ravaged UN building for the cover artwork perfectly accompanied the dark, threatening, politically aware material.

Peace Sells… But Who’s Buying? had a troubled birth, with Mustaine & Ellefson both being homeless at the time and the other two, Gar Samuelson and Chris Poland being constantly absent as a result of their heroin addictions. Despite this, the album catapulted the band into mainstream consciousness and established Megadeth as one of the Titans of Metal.

Peace Sells…‘ the title track from the album, was released as the albums’s lead single, for which the band recorded their first music video. In 1987 the band released the second single & video ‘Wake Up Dead‘.
